To meet the needs of the rapidly growing population in Eastern Bangkok, Synphaet Hospital Children’s Clinic, which has been serving since 1991, has seen a significant increase in the number of young patients.
The management team of Synphaet Hospital could no longer overlook the limitations in service provision, including space, waiting time, and the number of beds necessary for sick children who require hospitalization. This led to the creation of Synphaet Hospital Children, a separate facility from Synphaet Hospital. It is a 7-story building with two floors dedicated to outpatient care, while the remaining floors are inpatient rooms. Additionally, the facility separates the areas for treating sick children and those who are healthy, particularly in the vaccine clinic, which ensures that children coming for vaccinations are not exposed to other illnesses.
Synphaet Hospital Children is thus a private pediatric hospital, offering parents a reliable option for medical care for their young ones in Eastern Bangkok and nearby areas. With the capability and resources to treat nearly every pediatric condition, the hospital aims to be a One Stop Hospital.
Dr. Patcharawalai Rasmitat, the director of Synphaet Hospital Children, has a management policy focused on having specialists in nearly every field. It was found that many young patients who have used the hospital’s services in the past face issues such as learning difficulties, attention deficit disorders, delayed speech, and autism spectrum conditions. These cases require specialized knowledge from pediatricians in growth and development, as well as child and adolescent psychiatrists, to provide comprehensive care for these children.
With advancements in modern technology, Synphaet Hospital Children has integrated these to enhance care efficiency. From transitioning patient record-keeping from handwritten notes to digital entries on iPads and using barcode scanning for medication administration and patient identity verification, the hospital has implemented Smart OPD and Smart IPD systems. These systems ensure patients visiting the hospital for treatment receive systematic care, with alerts for abnormal blood or lab results immediately notified to doctors and nurses, thereby improving the speed and accuracy of care.
With current technology, Synphaet Hospital Children’s doctors can view all examination records on an iPad without the need to flip through paper files. When visiting patients in their rooms, the iPad alone allows them to discuss symptoms and test results with patients and their families, displaying images directly on the device. Furthermore, when a doctor prescribes medication, it can be ordered through this system, with the information instantly reaching the pharmacy, ensuring clear communication on medication details and reducing issues related to handwriting or unclear decimal placements. This not only speeds up the process but also significantly reduces paper resource waste.
Dr. Patcharawalai expressed her personal thoughts, “As a mother, I want to entrust my child’s care to a hospital with specialists who can address my child’s needs. For instance, if they have respiratory issues, allergies, digestive problems, frequent vomiting, constipation, or if they are two years old and still not speaking, these are critical issues that require accurate diagnosis and treatment. With a hospital that also integrates modern conveniences and technology into patient care, this becomes a significant factor in deciding to trust that hospital for my child’s care.”
Synphaet Hospital Children has achieved JCI Global Standards (JCI) Certification
The international Joint Commission International (JCI) from the United States conducted a five-day assessment of Synphaet Hospital’s medical services at the end of May. Both Synphaet Hospital and Synphaet Hospital Children were evaluated, focusing on pediatric teams, medical equipment and facilities, resuscitation devices for children, infrastructure, safety management systems specifically designed for children, including structural layout, furniture, locking systems, fire prevention measures, and medication management.
The JCI committee completed its evaluation and provided certification documents for both hospitals simultaneously, marking the second round of certification for Synphaet Hospital.
Dr. Patcharawalai Rasmitat, director of Synphaet Hospital Children, added that the hospital has organized a service system for children, separating zones for sick children and healthy children who come for vaccinations, to minimize the risk of contracting infectious diseases. The 7-story building offers ample space, accommodating up to 59 pediatric inpatient beds. The interior design, especially in hallways and consultation rooms, is child-friendly to make children feel comfortable and unafraid when visiting the hospital. Synphaet Hospital Children has a dedicated team of 14 pediatricians, including five specialists in respiratory diseases, to address respiratory issues commonly seen in children under five years old.
As a fully specialized private children’s hospital, Synphaet Hospital Children provides exclusive pediatric care and has earned JCI certification from the United States, ensuring international-standard quality and efficiency in pediatric care.
