Cardiopulmonary Fitness and VO2MAX Testing Center

  • Heart disease screening
  • Is your body fit?
  • Testing available with fitness measurement technology at the Cardiopulmonary Fitness and VO2MAX Testing Center

By specialized doctors and medical technology that can measure the body’s fitness, assess oxygen consumption (VO2MAX), or measure fitness before exercise through Cardiopulmonary Exercise Testing, or CPET for short. The term Cardio and Pulmonary mean heart and lungs, so it refers to testing the function of the heart and lungs while exercising at full capacity.

The test is divided into two parts: the Exercise part, where the exercise equipment used may be a treadmill or a stationary bike, depending on the patient’s condition.

For Fitness Evaluation

  • The evaluation of the electrocardiogram (ECG). This test is similar to the one we are familiar with, called the Exercise Stress Test (EST), allowing the doctor to analyze the patient’s ECG while exercising. If there is an issue with the heart, the graph will show an abnormal ECG pattern.
  • The evaluation of breathing and the analysis of oxygen and carbon dioxide gases released by the body during exercise, also known as the Lung Function Test & Gas Exchange Analysis. A mask will be placed over the patient’s nose and mouth during the test to record breathing data while exercising. The data collected will include oxygen intake, carbon dioxide expulsion, and air pressure inside the mask. This information is useful both medically and in sports science.

For medical purposes, the indications for this test include:

  • Classifying patients based on risk and prognosis, such as in heart failure patients, to assess their readiness for surgery.
  • To establish exercise programs for different patient groups.
  • To assess post-treatment outcomes.
  • To measure exercise capacity or assess physical fitness.
  • To diagnose the cause of shortness of breath or difficulty breathing.
