Laparoscopic Salpingectomy
For cases of fallopian tube stenosis, blockage, or ectopic pregnancy.
Laparoscopic Surgery Procedure
- Most procedures are performed in an operating room under general anesthesia. After the laparoscopy, some patients can return home immediately or stay in the hospital for only one night. This is because laparoscopic surgery causes less trauma to internal organs and the abdominal wall compared to traditional open surgery.
- The laparoscopy involves a small incision under the navel, approximately 1 centimeter long. Carbon dioxide gas is then introduced through a needle at the navel incision into the abdominal cavity. This creates space in the pelvic area, allowing internal organs to be visualized and operated on through a small magnifying camera inserted via the navel.
- The surgery may require 1-2 additional small incisions at the upper edge of the pubic area to insert instruments for the pelvic procedure. Once the surgery is complete, the doctor removes the instruments, releases all carbon dioxide gas from the abdomen, and sutures all incisions.
Advantages of Laparoscopic Surgery
- Less trauma to pelvic organs because the surgical instruments are very small.
- With minimal trauma, the recovery of internal organs and the small abdominal incisions is significantly better, resulting in less post-operative pain.
- Faster recovery compared to open abdominal surgery. Patients can resume eating and perform daily activities much sooner.
