Enterovirus 71 Vaccine for Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease Prevention
This vaccine stimulates immunity against Enterovirus 71 (EV 71) to prevent Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease caused by EV 71 only. It cannot be used to prevent the disease caused by other enteroviruses, including Coxsackie virus. **90% of severe cases with complications are caused by Enterovirus 71, including aseptic meningitis, encephalitis, and acute myocarditis.**
For initial immunity, administer 2 doses, 1 month apart.
