MIS-C = multiple inflammatory syndrome in children
This is a condition involving inflammation in multiple body systems, which can occur after a COVID-19 infection in children. It typically appears between 1 to 30 days
after the child has recovered from COVID.
Parents should be observant and concerned if their child becomes sick again within 1–30 days after recovering from COVID.
Symptoms may include high fever, fatigue, lethargy, reduced appetite, diarrhea, skin rashes, red eyes, and red lips.
If left untreated, the symptoms may worsen and become life-threatening.
If a child is diagnosed with MIS-C, they must receive symptom-based treatment under medical supervision. In severe cases,
monitoring in the pediatric ICU may be required.
