Colorectal cancer is one of the most common cancers in Thailand. In its early stages, it often presents no symptoms.

Screening is the most effective way to prevent colorectal cancer.

 

What types of abdominal pain should prompt a gastrointestinal endoscopy?

  • Persistent tightness or bloating under the sternum or left rib cage above the navel
  • Burning or sharp abdominal pain lasting more than 2 weeks
  • Chronic, recurring pain resembling indigestion
  • Difficulty swallowing or pain when swallowing food
  • Unintentional weight loss or loss of appetite
  • Frequent vomiting
  • Anemia or pale skin
  • Vomiting blood or passing black-colored stool

 

Endoscopy allows doctors to detect abnormalities, diagnose diseases,

and perform treatment during the procedure. It is also a very safe method.

  • Early-stage colorectal cancer when no symptoms are present
  • Inflammations or infections in the colon
  • Polyps in the colon
  • Causes and treatment of gastrointestinal bleeding
  • Causes of bowel irregularities such as chronic constipation or diarrhea
