Laparoscopic Ovarian Cyst Surgery Package
Laparoscopic Ovarian Surgery
Laparoscopic Surgery Procedures
- Most procedures are performed in an operating room under general anesthesia. After the laparoscopy, some patients can return home immediately or stay in the hospital for only one night. This is because laparoscopic surgery causes less trauma to internal organs and the abdominal wall compared to traditional open surgery.
- The procedure involves a small incision of approximately 1 cm below the navel. Carbon dioxide gas is then introduced through a needle at the incision site to create space in the pelvic cavity. This allows the surgeon to visualize internal organs and perform surgery using a small magnifying telescope inserted through the umbilical incision.
- One or two additional small punctures may be made near the pubic hairline to insert surgical instruments for the pelvic procedure. Once the surgery is complete, the physician will remove the instruments, release the carbon dioxide gas from the abdominal cavity, and suture all incision sites.
Advantages of Laparoscopic Surgery
- Less trauma to pelvic organs due to the use of specialized miniature surgical instruments.
- Reduced trauma leads to better recovery of internal organs and abdominal incisions, resulting in significantly less post-operative pain.
- Faster recovery compared to open abdominal surgery, allowing patients to resume eating and daily activities much sooner.
