Children’s Gastrointestinal Center

Gastrointestinal disorders in children are common from infancy to older children. Examples of symptoms in infants include irritability, bloating, frequent passing of gas, refusal to eat milk or food, frequent regurgitation, vomiting, constipation, diarrhea, abnormal stool appearance, and failure to grow. Older children who can communicate may tell parents about symptoms such as abdominal pain or pain during bowel movements.

Diagnosis and Treatment

Diagnosis and treatment include physical examinations by pediatric specialists along with additional investigations such as abdominal ultrasound, X-rays, or endoscopic examinations of the gastrointestinal tract to detect abnormalities. Recommendations may be provided regarding dietary choices, bowel training, or medications to ease bowel movements, ensuring the child recovers from illness and maintains age-appropriate health and growth.
