Cervical spondylosis results from degeneration of the intervertebral discs, which may lead to thickening of ligaments or bone spurs (osteophytes). These changes narrow the spaces between vertebrae and can compress spinal nerves or the spinal cord, causing neck pain that radiates to the arms and back.<\/p>\n

  2. Weakness of the arm, hand, and fingers:<\/strong> Caused by nerve root compression from cervical spondylosis, leading to pain along the nerve pathway with numbness and weakness\u2014pain may radiate from the neck down the arm to the fingertips.<\/li>\n

    2. Whether walking or standing, keep your head upright\u2014avoid excessive flexion or extension.<\/li>\n
    3. Do not bend your head down while reading. Raise materials to eye level\u2014use a stack of books or a box as a stand.<\/li>\n
    4. Position your computer monitor at eye level; if it\u2019s too low or too high you\u2019ll sustain prolonged neck flexion or extension.<\/li>\n
    5. Avoid certain sitting postures\u2014such as side-sitting with a twist\u2014which require excessive neck rotation.<\/li>\n
    6. Limit prolonged phone use, which encourages long periods of neck flexion.<\/li>\n
    7. When driving, sit close enough to the steering wheel to avoid jutting your head and neck forward.<\/li>\n
