The Meteorological Department officially announces that Thailand has entered the rainy season. Therefore, be prepared to deal with various diseases caused by changing weather conditions, including humidity and pathogens that lead to these illnesses.<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

What are the common diseases during the rainy season that we should be cautious of?<\/strong><\/p>\n

1. Respiratory infections such as common cold, influenza, RSV
\n– Influenza is caused by the influenza virus, commonly types A and B.
\nSymptoms<\/strong> include high fever, headache, body aches, along with respiratory symptoms.<\/p>\n

  1. Gastrointestinal infections such as acute diarrhea and food poisoning
    \n– Acute diarrhea is caused by consuming contaminated food and water, infected by viruses and bacteria such as Salmonella spp., Vibrio spp., and Rotavirus.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Symptoms<\/strong> include abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and fever.<\/p>\n

    3. Skin and mucous membrane infections such as leptospirosis and infectious dermatitis
    \n– Leptospirosis is caused by walking in contaminated water infected by pathogens from rodents or other rodents entering the body through broken skin or mucous membranes.
    \nSymptoms<\/strong> include sudden high fever, headache, vomiting, red eyes, muscle pain, diarrhea, and acute kidney failure.<\/p>\n

    4. Mosquito-borne diseases such as dengue fever, chikungunya, and Japanese encephalitis
    \n– Dengue fever is caused by the dengue virus and transmitted by Aedes mosquitoes.
    \nSymptoms<\/strong> include high fever, flushed face, headache, lethargy, loss of appetite. Severe cases can cause low platelet count, abnormal bleeding, shock, and may be life-threatening.<\/p>\n

    5. Conjunctivitis caused by viruses in dirty water entering the eyes, resulting in red, sore, itchy eyes with discharge.<\/p>\n
