Kidney Disease Screening Program

A program to evaluate kidney function to prevent future kidney disease and monitor current kidney health for individuals aged 18 and older.

 

Who Should Undergo Kidney Screening?

Individuals experiencing the following symptoms:

  • Swelling of the eyelids, face, feet, legs, and body
  • Pain in the kidney area or lower back
  • Foamy urine
  • Blood in urine (Hematuria)
  • Frequent urination at night (Nocturia)
  • And for those who are health-conscious

 

Or individuals at risk or with underlying conditions, even without symptoms, such as:

  • Diabetes
  • High blood pressure (Hypertension)
  • Obesity
  • Family history of kidney disease

 

What is included in the Kidney Disease Screening Program?

  1. Physical examination and medical summary by a Nephrologist
  2. Kidney function blood test (BUN – Blood Urea Nitrogen)
  3. Kidney function blood test (Creatinine, GFR/eGFR)
  4. Electrolyte test
  5. Basic urine examination (Urinalysis)
  6. Urine protein level test (UMA – Urine Microalbumin)
  7. Blood sugar level test (FBS – Fasting Blood Sugar)
  8. Glycated hemoglobin test (HbA1C)
  9. Ultrasound of the kidneys, ureters, and bladder (Ultrasound KUB)

Preparation Before Undergoing Kidney Disease Screening

  1. Refrain from food for at least 8-12 hours.
  2. Drink only plain water before the blood test.
  3. Maintain a full bladder until the urge to urinate is strong before the ultrasound.
